ELECTION INFORMATION

Election Date: The General Election is on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Executive Order N-64-20: Governor Newsom issued an executive order calling for the November 3, 2020, General Election to be conducted as an all vote-by-mail ballot election. However, the Order makes allowance for in-person-voting.

Ballot Drop-off Locations: Ballots are going out in the mail to voters starting on October 5, 2020. Your Vote-By-Mail ballot may be returned via the United States Postal Service or at any of the 80 secure Ballot Drop-Off locations that will be available beginning October 5 (a list of these location will be available on September 24, 2020). The City Clerk's Office for the City of Palm Desert is one of the ballot drop-off locations.

At Palm Desert City Hall – The ballot drop box will be available from October 5 through November 3, 2020, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Election Day, November 3, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For in person voting at Voter Assistance Centers: Riverside County will have 120 Voter Assistance Centers throughout the County. At these locations you can vote in-person between October 31-November 3, 2020. (A final list of the Voter Assistance Centers will be posted at www.voteinfo.net by September 24, 2020).

The nearby locations confirmed by the Registrar of Voters are as follows:

  • Palm Desert Community Center – Gymnasium – 43900 San Pablo Avenue, Palm Desert
  • Palm Desert Greens – Recreation Center – 73750 Country Club Drive, Palm Desert.
  • Portola Community Center – 45480 Portola Avenue, Palm Desert.

Voter Assistance Centers will be open between October 31 – November 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Voter Assistance Centers will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3.

At these Centers you will be able to do the following:

  • Drop–off your ballot
  • In–person voting
  • Turn in a spoiled ballot

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters recommends that voters only use the in-person Voting Assistance Centers if absolutely necessary, as the generalized use of in-person voting presents risks to public health and safety in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social distancing will be required when visiting a Voter Assistance Center and face coverings are strongly encouraged.
